Subcontract Machining
At Norjen Precision Ltd we specialise in providing subcontract machining services to industry. We carry out and provide a variety of operations which have been developed over the years through the amount of components we have machined, providing us with a huge amount of experience.
Components machined have been from many sectors of industry, including automotive, aerospace and marine. Items produced by the methods forging and casting are our speciality.
Our subcontract machining services come in as a useful resource when producers are at capacity or wish to pre-machine before placing product on highly valuable equipment. Both protecting it and speeding up production against those challenging deadlines. We aim to provide a quick turn around and also offer customer confidentiality. Along with this being a friendly family run business we ensure that flexibility is a major element of our engineering operations in order to provide an excellent level of service to our clients and respond when they want to get the job done with little time to spare.
Our team of precision engineers between them have many years of time served experience and coupling this to the implementation of our quality management systems AS9100 and ISO 9001 proves to be an effective formula. Please navigate our web site further for capacities or do not hesitate to contact one of the team who will only be too happy to help with enquiries.
Forging
Forging is a manufacturing process involving the shaping of metal using localised comprehensive forces. The blows are delivered with a hammer (often a power hammer) or a die. Forging is often classified according to the temperature at which it is performed: cold forging, warm forging or hot forging and for the latter of the two the metal is heated in a forge. Forged parts can range in size and variety.
Traditionally forged parts were used as hand tools and edged weapons, however since the Industrial Revolution parts are widely used in mechanisms and machines where the component requires high strength, such as those used in the aerospace, oil, automotive and marine industries. Forgings creating parts for these industries require further processing such as finish machining to give accurate form and tolerance to the part.
At Norjen Precision Ltd we have vast experience in machining forged parts for well known members of the forging industry. We specialise in pre-heat treat machining of forged items such as rings, bosses and blanks. Also within the process of creating finished parts from forging the testing process is also vital in order to assess material quality and prevent non conformity within the production line.
Our test preparation services provide a valued resource and have been used by main stream forging companies over a number of years. We provide test piece preparation, ring and core removal with a quick and flexible turnaround.
Casting
Casting is a 6000-year-old manufacturing process – there are surviving castings which date back to 3200. It is a process in which liquid material is usually poured into a mold, which contains a hollow cavity of the desired shape and then allowed to solidify.
The solidified part is also known as a casting, which is ejected or broken out of the mold to complete the process. In the process of manufacturing the finished component, the castings generally require finish machining to give them the sizing, shape and finish required by design specification.
At Norjen Precision Ltd we provide the service of machining castings as part of the production and test process. Usually metals or various cold setting materials that cure when mixing two or more compounds together are cast. Casting is used for making complex shapes that would be otherwise would be difficult and uneconomical to make by other methods.
If you are a casting company that requires subcontract-machining or test preparation services as part of your production line, we would only be too happy to discuss your requirements.
